Harvard MD and Refractive Surgeon, Dr. Scott HyverLASIK is the most popular eye correction surgery in the world. It is designed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

When combined with Wavefront technology, it becomes Wavefront LASIK (also known as "Custom LASIK"), a superb solution, often resulting in vision better than 20/20, with sharp, clear night vision.

The hallmark of LASIK is the corneal flap. Here, Dr. Hyver creates a thin flap of corneal tissue, which he lifts, exposing the underlying tissue. He then applies the laser to this exposed tissue, and then restores the flap over the treated area, preserving the new correction (see animation below).

Since the eye is essentially restored, visual recovery is rapid and there is little to no post-op discomfort. In fact, most patients can return to their normal lifestyles the following day, free of their contact lenses and glasses.
